MY JOURNEY - When Education Was at Risk
I am grateful to be a beneficiary of Restored Futures International (RFI) Foundation.
In 2012, I was in my second year of high school. I was a bright student, but frequent dismissal from school because of unpaid fees threatened my education.
RFI Foundation intervened and supported me to continue with my studies. With their assistance, I remained among the top five students throughout high school and eventually performed well in my final examinations.
An Opportunity to Pursue My Dreams
After completing high school, RFI supported me to join college. The Foundation helped with my accommodation, upkeep, learning materials, and tuition fees.
I pursued Computer Science and completed my studies with a distinction.
Starting My Career
After completing my studies, I secured my first job with an Tech company in Nairobi city. I was able to support myself and my family, including catering for my younger sibling’s high school education.
Facing a New Setback
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I lost my job and was no longer able to support my younger sibling’s education.
Thankfully, RFI Foundation stepped in. They took over my sibling’s education, helping her complete high school and finish her college education.
Building Towards Self-Reliance
Through the opportunities and support I received, I was able to continue developing my education and acquire skills that would help me become self-sufficient.
I remain grateful to RFI Foundation for standing with me through the different stages of my journey and for helping me pursue my education and build my career.
