MY JOURNEY - Succeeding Against the Odds
Growing up, pursuing my education was not easy. Despite the challenges I faced, I remained determined to stay in school and worked hard to maintain a brilliant academic performance.
An Opportunity to Join University
In 2018, I graduated from high school and passed well in my final examinations. I was offered an opportunity to join Kenyatta University to pursue higher education.
Due to lack of finances, I could not join the university. It was at this point that RFI Foundation came to my aid and paid my university fees, after which I enrolled.
In addition, a fundraiser was conducted in my community to help raise money toward my school fees. This was among the first steps in my journey toward achieving my career aspirations.
Completing My University Education
I eventually joined Kenyatta University and completed my university education, graduating with a degree in Sports Science.
Today, I am a professional lifeguard and a self-employed fitness coach. I have been able to use my education and skills to build a career and become self-employed.
I remain grateful for the support I received from RFI Foundation, my community, and the well-wishers who contributed to my educational journey.
The support I got from RFI Foundation helped me overcome the financial barriers that stood between me and higher education and gave me an opportunity to pursue a career and build a future for myself.
